The Perfect Skincare Product Recommendations For Summer

The Perfect Skincare Product Recommendations For Summer

With the changing seasons, it’s time to make some slight changes to skincare routines to account for the summer months. It’s more important than ever to protect skin from the sun when enjoying the outdoors, and your clients should modify their exfoliation and cleansing routines as well. We’ve put together this quick guide to let you know how to adjust product recommendations for your patients to make the most of this summer.

Cleansing

As always, skincare routines should start with cleansing. During the summer, we recommend doubling down on cleansing and using more powerful agents to remove more sweat, oils, sunscreen residue, makeup, and impurities in pores. We recommend using a lightweight cleanser such as our Salicylic Face & Body Wash or our Chamomile Facial Cleanser twice daily to provide a thorough cleanse.

Toners & Exfoliators

Now that the winter is over, we recommend a deep exfoliation with glycolic acid to start off the summer and remove any lingering dead skin cells. As the summer continues, though, exfoliating product use can be decreased. Dead cells provide some protection against UV light, so the skin will be more sensitive after exfoliating. Exfoliating products should only be used at night so that sensitive skin is not exposed during the daytime.

During the next few months, we recommend using lighter exfoliating agents. Instead of using AHAs like glycolic acid, patients can use weaker formulas or BHAs like salicylic acid. Our Dual Action Toner is perfect for the summer months, which uses a moderate formula of 5% glycolic acid and salicylic acid to provide light exfoliation, brightening, and smooth texture.

Serums & Moisturizers

Particularly for those with oily skin, patients should use lightweight, mattifying serums and moisturizers this summer. There’s no need to go overboard and use heavier creams - they will only weigh skin down. Instead, recommend our weightless Green Tea Antioxidant Serum which combines brightening, antioxidants, acne control, and hydration in a matte formula. Similarly with moisturizers, we recommend lightweight, oil-free formulas such as our Oil-Free Moisturizer and our Clarifying Moisturizer, or our Restorative Body Conditioner, which contains powerful moisturizing nutrients and protects from harmful HEV light.

Sun Protection & Relief

Last, but certainly not least, make sure patients take home and apply sunscreen this summer. Increased sun exposure during the next few months can damage skin and cause signs of premature aging like wrinkles, dark spots, and lines, and it is imperative that sun protection is applied to prevent it. Our Ultra Replenishing SPF 40 contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to protect from UVA and UVB. It also contains winter cherry to protect against HEV light, and it has the powerful antioxidant lipochroman to protect against free radicals and environmental pollutants. Accidents happen, and in case of sunburn, irritation can be eased using our Soothing Skin Relief Gel to hydrate and heal, with aloe vera, sea algae, and vitamin E.

Help your patients keep their skin healthy by adjusting product recommendations for the hotter, brighter summer months. Patients should use lightweight moisturizers and serums, cleanse deeply and often, and avoid over-exfoliating. Most importantly, recommend that your patients always use sunscreen.
