As a practicing dermatologist with four decades of experience, I've treated countless patients grappling with various scalp and hair loss issues. Hair loss has numerous causes, including alopecia areata, male and female alopecia, hormonally induced hair thinning, and hair loss from medications like chemotherapy. Often, patients visit me for scalp issues and itchy scalp, unaware that effective hair loss treatments are available. The sheer number of patients presenting with hair thinning and other scalp problems alerted me to the need for a truly innovative scalp and hair product solution. I am truly thrilled to launch our Revitalize + Restore Microbiome Shampoo. Join me in exploring how this revolutionary shampoo can transform scalp and hair care for patients everywhere.
Scalp microbiome disruption is a major cause of scalp dermatitis, including psoriasis, seborrhea, and seborrheic dermatitis. Recent studies have shown that an imbalance in the scalp microbiome is common in many types of hair loss. Our Revitalize + Restore Microbiome Shampoo addresses hair thinning, scalp dermatitis, and itchy scalp. I recommend it for patients with scalp issues and hair loss, either as a stand-alone product or as an at-home treatment for those undergoing in-office hair restorative treatments.
Early clinical results from twelve volunteer testers with scalp and/or hair loss issues have shown impressive outcomes, including in patients unresponsive to topical and intralesional steroids. Here are the highlights from this small tester group in my dermatology practice:
Visible Hair Regrowth: 16 out of 17 testers saw hair regrowth within 2 to 4 weeks. Of the 14 women testers, 12 colored their hair. All testers continued using the shampoo, with the earliest user now on it exclusively for 6 months. All 17 testers would recommend it, and 2 testers reported better results than Nioxin.
Scalp Pruritis Relief: One tester with inflammatory bowel disease and recalcitrant scalp itch for two years saw total resolution of scalp pruritis within two uses and has remained itch-free for three months using the shampoo daily.
Post-Surgery Hair Regrowth: One tester with significant hair loss after scalp melanoma surgery showed significant hair regrowth in four weeks.
Response to Hair Loss Treatments: Testers aged 37 to 84 with hair loss from immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and alopecia areata showed significant responses. Of the two testers on Propecia for male pattern hair loss, one showed significant improvement in hair count while the other did not respond (aged 42 and 70, respectively).
We are also testing the shampoo on women with acne, as it features salicylic acid and a postbiotic that reduces scalp sebum production and balances the microbiome. I will provide an update once these testers are evaluated.
The three main active ingredients in this formulation include:
Triple Action Postbiotic: Balances the scalp microbiome and stimulates hair growth. Clinical results show a 29.7% increase in dermal papilla cell proliferation and 16.2% inhibition of 5α-reductase activity.
Oat Amino Acids: Inhibits microbial and fungal growth, reducing dandruff and sebum production. Clinical results show a 50% reduction in sebum, a 65% decrease in itch sensation, a 50% reduction in scalp greasiness, and a 45% decrease in scalp desquamation after 4 weeks.
Salicylic Acid: Exfoliates the scalp, removing scales and flakes. Clinical studies show reduced dandruff severity and improved scalp health, including reductions in itchiness, redness, and irritation.
Formulated for color-treated hair, our sulfate-free, low pH shampoo preserves hair pigment and enhances color vibrancy.
When using this shampoo, or any other shampoo on color-treated hair, apply directly to the scalp and rinse with lukewarm water. Use 1-2 times per week.
I wholeheartedly recommend integrating this innovative formula into your product offering, scalp care is skincare, and your patients will thank you for it.
